Chef Eddie G’s culinary journey began at Rana’s Italian Restaurant in New York, where he started as a dishwasher and discovered the passion that would shape his career. He went on to graduate from Johnson & Wales College in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1988, combining his hands-on experience with a formal culinary education.
In 1993, Chef Eddie G opened Gallagher’s Sports Pub, his first restaurant venture, establishing himself as both a chef and entrepreneur with a passion for bringing people together through food. His career continued to expand, leading to his Food Network debut in 2006 and appearances at renowned culinary events, including the Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival in 2012.
Always passionate about supporting local food systems, Chef Eddie G formalized his Locavore Pods framework in 2020—a model designed to connect local farmers, producers, chefs, and communities. Today, that vision has grown beyond the United States, with his work spanning international consulting, speaking engagements, and Locavore Pod development.
From starting in a restaurant kitchen as a dishwasher to becoming a chef, entrepreneur, television personality, and advocate for local food, Chef Eddie G has built his career around one simple philosophy: “Local first, always.”
